Powerwerks PW50 PA SystemThe Powerwerks PW50 Portable PA System stands out as much for the price tag as the specification. Some portable PAs pack a punch and offer a lot of different features, but come at a high price.

This model is affordable enough that teens and budding musicians can pick one up as their first PA system.

This 50W sound system has a three channel mixer, high and low EQ and twin 4.5’’ drivers. But, is this really enough?

The Pros and Cons of this Powerwerks PW50 Portable PA System:

Pros:

  • Light and portable enough for ease of use
  • Easy to use with the three channel mixer
  • Enough reach and clarity for small venues and events

Cons:

  • Too basic for more complex set-ups
  • A dull, tinny sound according to some users.

There are lots of people keen to praise this Powerwerks PW50 Portable PA System for its performance in small venues.

This portable sound system is pretty easy to set up in any event or garage. The speaker weighs just 14.7 and the tall thin shape means that it won’t take up too much room. There is also the option of linking multiple units together to increase the potential. This sounds like a good idea at the price. Furthermore, it can be mounted on top of a typical speaker stand.

Powerwerks PW50 Portable PA SystemOnce set up in these small venues, this Powerwerks PA System can offer some great experiences for its users. There are reports from those using it for practice sessions to learn an instrument.

Others set it up for basic music amplification and karaoke at weddings and parties. Users can hook up a microphone, instrument or laptop and achieve the sound and coverage they need. There is minimal feedback and decent clarity.

However, there is a clear limit to what this Powerwerks PW50 Portable PA Sound System can offer.

Not all users are quite so impressed with the capabilities of this system. Some happy buyers mention that this speaker is fine for their needs because they didn’t need that much power, or bass or other clever features. As one user notes, a good bass sound is always unlikely with a 4.5’’ cone.

Others note that the sound is a little dull or tinny, and that the system meets their bare minimum requirements for amplification. There is also a report from one buyer that experienced a power failure after a year. They simply replace the PA system because the costs of repairs were too high for the initial price paid.

Is this Powerwerks PW50 Sound System still recommendable with this feedback in mind?

It seems that there is a clear upper limit to this system. Users with minimal needs can see the benefits here. Speakers with one microphone, or solo singers/guitarists can project themselves to a small audience without any flashy gimmicks. The sound is just loud and clear enough for the job.

Those that expect anything more, or have multiple feeds or complex mixers, may struggle. This low ceiling doesn’t mean that the product isn’t recommendable. In the right hands, this portable Powerwerks PA system can be of great use.
